Where I’m from
Salt Lake City, Utah.
Skateboarding and photography
My passion for skating started when I was 12. My friend was working on a kickflip in his driveway, and I couldn’t help but trying it for myself. Since that day, my love for skateboarding and all of its aspects has only grown stronger. Landing intimidating tricks still fills me with as much joy as when I started, but I am now also finding great satisfaction in capturing my friends and fellow skaters in action.
I take pride documenting the whole process, immortalizing the impressive tricks – executed after hours of trial and slams, but also the candid moments leading to it, the pain and exhaustion, the feeling of rolling away, the skill and joy of it all.
My style
To me, a perfect photograph feels timeless, documents a process, contains unique angles and eye-catching composition. I never shy away from tilting a picture or using unexpected technique.
I like pictures that feel timeless, engaging, memorable and relatable, and I love capturing people in big scale environments. I love my work to reflect how little we are in this world, but how brave we are to face it and use it so creatively – and skateboarding is a great example of that.
I also find myself capturing this sense of smallness and creativity in my city and concert photography. In a busy place like Paris or NYC, it only takes one peculiar building to stop you in your steps and make your world go quiet for a moment. At a concert, it takes little to make a crowd go wild, but it takes one genuine and confident artist to make thousands of people go quiet during a beautiful song.
